O presidente da Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ordenou o fechamento da fronteira com o Brasil a partir da noite desta quinta-feira (21).
“Decidi, no sul da Venezuela, a partir das 20h deste 21 de fevereiro, que ficará fechada total e absolutamente, até novo aviso, a fronteira terrestre com o Brasil”, afirmou Maduro em reunião com o alto comando militar.
A medida foi tomada a dois dias da data anunciada pela oposição venezuelana, liderada pelo presidente autoproclamado Juan Guaidó, para a entrega de ajuda humanitária armazenada em pontos da fronteira da Venezuela com a Colômbia e o Brasil.
Maduro indicou que também está considerando fechar a fronteira com a Colômbia e que a decisão sobre a fronteira brasileira se deu por causa do apoio do Brasil aos planos da oposição.
O presidente afirmou que a ajuda humanitária, que foi enviada pelos EUA, é uma “provocação” e que os planos da oposição são um “pobre espetáculo” para fragilizar seu governo.
